Family Guy has bad intentions

Family Guy has generated a large amount controversy since its first season on FOX. Insensitively addressing touchy subjects, such as homosexuality, drug use, domestic violence, the Holocaust and many other crude topics is essentially what “Family Guy” is best known for. In fact, numerous groups and companies have actually protested against the show. The show is terrible for society because in the show all they do is make fun of famous people, play around with religion, and criticize everything. Family is an animation but kids should not watch it. There is to many vague messages being described through out the shows. The show is very popular and it has a negative affect on society. It has a negative affect because it encourages people to go around making jokes about others. It give the audience different jokes to repeat. It creates a belief system for its audience. For Example, in the show they say a substantial amount of false information about entertainers, which gives the audience the wrong information about people. It influences the audience to judge and assume information that is made up by the show.

Jersey Shore Negative influence on society

The reality show, Jersey Shore took the nation by surprise with its provocative content, trashy language, and shocking cast that showed of a life that many only imagine.  Jersey Shore had a negative connotation on society that nobody saw coming. The original season features 7 cast members that spend the summer in a house on Jersey Shore.  They work at a t-shirt shop by day, but party like crazy by night.  Alcohol, parties, and sex were the center of these 7 young adult’s lives.  People watched this show across the country and as the seasons went on, the show began to have a very negative connotation.  Children and teens watched this show regularly and it began to consume the thoughts of people. Young adults were beginning to think that this was the way that adults acted, but really these adults were a terrible representation of how young people should act.  The cast was labeled as trashy, crazy, out of control people that did not need to be on television.  The show began to raise controversy throughout the nation and split the country into people who didn’t necessarily agree with their lifestyle, but didn’t have an issue with the show, versus people who thought the cast was complete trash.

The Negative influence Love and Hip-Hop have on young men

When there is nothing to do at home people tend to watch crappy TV shows. In many ways people are heavily affected by what they see on the daily basis. A great example of a crappy show is love and hip-hop. Love & hip-hop is an American reality television series on VH1. The series debuted on March 14, 2011, and chronicles the lives of several women who are involved with hip-hop. The TV show portrays a negative image of black men. It could easily have an affect on its viewers, which could have a huge affect on society. It could have a negative affect on the youth. Kids watching the show grow up with the mentality that the show enables them to have. When watching TV children tend to have a stronger belief system than the young adults they watch the TV show with. Two characters that are a perfect example of black men being portrayed in a negative way are Stevie J and lil scrappy. Stevie J is portrayed as the womanizer and schemer on women; cheating on his long term girlfriend and mother of his daughter with an exotic dancer, whom he ended up getting pregnant and then goading into an abortion; once used money given to him by his fiance to buy the silence of his baby’s mother; proposed to both his fiance and mother of his children at the same time, which resulted in a huge fight. When Young men watch the show they being negatively influenced by males they see on the show. It encourages them to believe that it is ok to treat females’ wrong. Lil Scrappy is a self-proclaimed mamma’s boy, with a long criminal rap sheet; did a stint in rehab for marijuana addiction in order to avoid jail time for failing to pass a drug test while out on probation; a womanizer, who regularly cheated on his fiance.

Sidewalks for Crawford. W. Long

     Cars speeding up and down the road; sharp rocks and debris on both sides of the road. To many this sounds like a typical highway but, for me, this sounds like the road that students at Crawford. W. Long have to take every day.  There are not sidewalks that students can take to get to my middle school so they are forced to walk in the street and risk getting hit by a car. I do not believe that students should have to worry about things like this so I am going to make a change. I believe that the best type of community service that you can do is something that you are passionate about, and I am passionate about protecting the children in my neighborhood. That is why I have started an initiative called Side walk for Crawford. W. Long.

     My neighborhood is not a good neighborhood. There are drug dealers up and down the street. Police chases are a common thing in my neighborhood and when the police are trying to catch a criminal, the speed limit is nothing more than some numbers on a sign.  This only increases the danger that children going to Crawford. W. Long have to face. My sister and her friends have to walk to and from school everday. I feel like it is my objective to create a safer route instead of them having to walk in the street. It’s not only for the safety of my sister and her friends it will also increase the aesthetics of the area as well. I plan on raising awareness of the dangers these students face at Crawford. W. Long and ultimately get city officials to put in sidewalks.

 I started by asking programs that im in for help on ths project. The members of the talented tenth program actually agreed to partner with me on this project. The Talented Tenth is a prominent, non- profit organization dedicated to helping the inner city, less fortunate, African American youth of Atlanta strive for academic excellence, to have integrity and to become culturally enriched. We divided up task among different members of the organization. My just was to utilize social media to raise awareness about the situation, I have created a blog (http://terrencematt1.blogspot.com/) and well as a Facebook page(http://www.facebook.com/#!/SideWalksForCrawfordWLongMiddleSchool) to get the word out. It was also my duty to help create a video so that people could have a visual of how dangerous this street is. The video is going to be students actually walking to school and fast “real” what the video will do is show the students worries and that there aware of their risk of walking in the street. This video may come in handy trying to persuad people like the mayor that we need sidewalks in our neighborhood. I may also have to get petitions signed and constantly call the mayor, but whatever It takes my desire is to accomplish this goal. I look forward to getting those side walks and feeling really good inside.

   My neighborhood has a great influence on my life. It’s mostly the experiences I’ve had in my neighborhood that made an impact. My neighborhood isn’t a nice neighborhood. I live with my mom and two sisters. The bad conditions of my neighborhood influence me to get a good education so that I can do better than my mom.

          In my neighborhood theirs drug dealers up and down the street. My mom always told me drug dealers only end up dead or in jail. I had no choice but to believe her because every month a drug dealer was the neighborhood topic. There was either a dealer in a police chase or shoot out. There’s also girl & boy gangs in my neighborhood, which could have an effect on my little sister. I want to do better so that I can move my family into a better setting. When I walk to the corner store I have to worry about the junkies asking for cash. I want better for my future; I want to live with no worries.

          My god mom lived up the street. She became my god mom when I became a sophomore in high school. I knew her ever since the second grade. I gained a lot from her. She helps me when I was having trouble with homework and school issues. She’s like a second mom to me. I feel like a good education increases my chance of being successful. I didn’t take school too serious until the summer before my freshman year of high school. I spent that summer with my god mom. The advice she gave increased my desire for the skill of studying. I was told in order to be successful I would have to work harder than others. I knew in order to be a diligent worker in school I would have to enhance my studying and reading skills.

    I grew up the wrong group of friends. The friends I grew hung with had bad influences on me. We started smoking marijuana. We stole candy from stores as if it was worth it. We also did careless thing like broke in abandoned homes to vandalize. When I hung with my friends I felt like I was the only one with common sense and a conscious. They were careless about the stupid thing we did. My friends grew up in the same neighborhood as me, but they were more above the influence. Two of my friends sold marijuana and were locked up. I knew that I wanted better for myself and I wanted to go to college, hanging with them wasn’t going to get me there.

           My grandparents had an influence on me as well. My grandfather taught me how to draw and paint well. He’s an artist. My grandmother always gave me positive advice. They were both a positive influence on me.
